FAQs
How do I store my cake?
If you are not planning to serve your cake within an hour or two after you pick up your order, we recommend storing your cake in the refrigerator. Our large bloom flower stems are placed in bright green pipettes that are just beneath the buttercream surface to ensure they remain fresh and beautiful for your event.
If you plan to leave your cake in the refrigerator overnight, be careful of strong odours in your fridge like onion or garlic that may seep into your cake.
We recommend removing your cake from the refrigerator at least 2 hours prior to serving for optimal taste and texture at room temperature. Never leave your cake in the heat as the flowers will wilt and the buttercream will loosen its structure.
We recommend that all of our cakes are enjoyed and consumed within 24-36 hours of pickup, although they are always best fresh. If your desired date is not available on our website, we would recommend coming in and attempting to buy one of the cakes that we always have available at the start of each day (10am) instead of buying a cake more than 36 hours in advance of your event.
How do I travel with my cake?
The best way to travel with your cake is by placing your cake on a flat surface. Ideally, three tiered cakes should travel on the floor right behind the passenger seat, nestled between the back of the passenger seat and back seat. Do not travel with a tiered cake in your lap or in the seat of your car. We recommend bringing someone with you to keep an eye on the cake. Please avoid any bumps and drive slowly.
During warm months, we recommend travelling with the AC on high to help keep the buttercream structure firm for travel.
How long will my cake last?
We always recommend serving your cake as close to pick up as possible to ensure optimal freshness of the cake and flowers. However, if needed, your cake will last in the refrigerator for up to 36 hours.
Do you offer delivery?
We offer delivery for cake orders of $750 or more within a reasonable distance via a third party for an additional price. If you have a question as to whether a distance is reasonable for delivery, do not hesitate to email us at orders@fromlucie.com to inquire. If you arrange for delivery through the From Lucie team, we maintain responsibility for the cake until it has been delivered to the venue location. We request a two hour delivery window for these orders, as NYC traffic can be difficult to predict.
Can you write on the cake?
We don’t write directly on our cakes using buttercream or any other frosting. For cakes priced at $500 or more, we offer the option of delicate meringue letters. Please note we can only accommodate 5–8 letters per cake, depending on the size and design. Please reach out to orders@fromlucie.com if this is something you are interested in.
