FAQs

How do I store my cake?

If you are not planning to serve your cake within an hour or two after you pick up your order, we recommend storing your cake in the refrigerator. Our large bloom flower stems are placed in bright green pipettes that are just beneath the buttercream surface to ensure they remain fresh and beautiful for your event.

If you plan to leave your cake in the refrigerator overnight, be careful of strong odours in your fridge like onion or garlic that may seep into your cake.

We recommend removing your cake from the refrigerator at least 2 hours prior to serving for optimal taste and texture at room temperature. Never leave your cake in the heat as the flowers will wilt and the buttercream will loosen its structure.

How do I travel with my custom cake?

The best way to travel with your custom cake is by placing your cake on a flat surface. Ideally, three tiered cakes should travel on the floor right behind the passenger seat, nestled between the back of the passenger seat and back seat. Do not travel with a tiered cake in your lap or in the seat of your car. We recommend bringing someone with you to keep an eye on the cake. Please avoid any bumps and drive slowly.

During warm months, we recommend travelling with the AC on high to help keep the buttercream structure firm for travel.

How long will my cake last?

We always recommend serving your cake as close to pick up as possible to ensure optimal freshness of the cake and flowers. However, if needed, your cake will last in the refrigerator for up to two days.

Do you offer delivery?

We offer delivery for cake orders on a case by case basis within an 8 mile radius. We make exceptions in regards to distance for very large orders, so if you have a specific request, do not hesitate to email us at orders@fromlucie.com to inquire. If you arrange for delivery through the From Lucie team, we maintain responsibility for the cake until it has been delivered to the venue location. We request a two hours delivery window for orders, as NYC traffic can be difficult to predict.

If you are needing delivery for a smaller cake (8" cake, mini cakes, sheet cakes), many of our customers arrange for third party pickups such as Uber or TaskRabbit. We are happy to help facilitate deliveries via third parties (please let us know before hand). Also, please be aware that if delivering through a third party, we are not responsible for the order once it has left our premises. We take a picture of each cake before leaving our space to ensure quality and structural integrity.
